Waterproof Scales

Waterproof scales, also commonly referred to as washdown-rated scales, are specialized weighing equipment designed to withstand rigorous cleaning processes and exposure to water. These scales are engineered with features that go beyond basic water resistance, making them suitable for environments where thorough and frequent cleaning is necessary. Washdown-rated scales are assigned an Ingress Protection (IP) rating, which indicates their level of protection against solids and liquids. Higher IP ratings signify greater protection, and these scales typically have a high IP rating to withstand water jets or immersion during cleaning.

Waterproof scales feature sealed components, preventing water and contaminants from entering critical areas, such as load cells and junction boxes. This design ensures the longevity and accuracy of the scale even when subjected to intense cleaning procedures. Many washdown-rated scales are constructed from stainless steel, a material known for its resistance to corrosion. This feature not only enhances durability but also makes the scales suitable for use in environments where exposure to water and cleaning agents is routine.

Washdown-rated waterproof scales are extensively used in the food industry, particularly in areas where hygiene is crucial, such as meat processing, dairy, and seafood. These scales withstand thorough cleaning with water and sanitizing solutions, ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards. Industrial environments where exposure to harsh chemicals, dirt, debris and moisture is common, such as chemical plants and manufacturing facilities, benefit from using washdown-rated scales. They can endure harsh environments and the necessary cleaning processes, contributing to accurate measurements in challenging conditions.
