Rice Lake IQ Plus 210 Digital Indicator Review - A Simple Choice
Posted by Ben M on Nov 27th 2018
Are you in need of a very basic digital weight indicator? Perhaps one with as few buttons as possible? The Rice Lake IQ Plus 210 is just what you are looking for! It is a high quality digital indicator with only 2 buttons; one zero key and one units key. With only 2 buttons to choose from, operator training and errors are minimized. Simple operation is what makes this a go-to indicator.
Ease of use makes the IQ Plus 210 indicator a great choice for demanding and wide-ranging applications. These are most often used for manufacturing processes requiring portioning, ingredient weighing, and general weighing. With only one zero key there is no need to spend extensive amounts of time training your operators what the difference is between zeroing and taring. Anytime a container is placed on the scale and it isn't supposed to be part of the net weight, you just zero it out. From a usability standpoint, I often recommend this particular model because it is a really key feature of the indicator.

The indicator overall is extremely durable. Stainless steel construction with a NEMA Type 4X / IP66 rating allows it to perform in harsh conditions. Even the buttons are stainless steel! As a technician over the years, I've seen these used in high-moisture facilities like food processing plants. But what was most impressive was a pool products packing facility where the indicators came into contact with corrosive chlorine powders. Even under that kind of torture, their IQ Plus 210s kept on trucking. Needless to say, the IQ Plus 210 is a tough indicator!
Additional features include a full duplex RS-232 serial communication port for connection to a printer, remote display, or PC. The IQ Plus 210 also has 2 digital inputs that can be configured for remote zero, print or units. They are NTEP Class III approved and can be used in legal-for-trade applications. Each indicator can power up to (4) 350 ohm load cells so it can be paired with most bench and floor scale platforms. Furthermore, the red LED display is easy to read in any lighting scenario, especially in low light areas. All of these features improve the versatility of the IQ210 plus.
Buy an IQ Plus 210 digital weigh indicator and pair it with a Rice Lake bench scale base or any other analog scale base to make a high quality and easy to use weighing system.
